Cautela

"I am a Sydney based photographer. These photographs and short films were made in ordinary places, probably not too unlike where you live. Combining a variety of techniques, I aim to help people take a second look at places that are familiar to them.

Thank you for your interest in my work.

Ordinary Angel (Flying as high as I can...)

"The fame and the fortune wasn't the driving force for us. We intellectualized and worried about music a bit more than most of the bands did" - Greg Kane

And though the ordinary angels fly, Their wings weigh heavily".

Também isso me faz , passados todos estes anos, continuar a gostar deles.

Hue and Cry - Ordinary Angel

I got the card, delivers the goods
Fills me with happiness
It's joy for a while 'till the first of the month
Then I'm chasing my tail again
I want a life that's bigger than me
'Cause I'm crushing myself to death
Tell you what I don't need
No heaven sent deity

'Cause I'm an ordinary angel
Winning tiny victories
And though the ordinary angels fly
Their wings weigh heavily
I try to be a daily genius
There's no idea beyond my reach
With all the angels and the geniuses
My company I'm gonna keep

I'm watching the news and I feel my face
Hanging like plasticene
Now I see the plot, I've got the plan
Every move is transparent to me
Profit and power's turning the world
And I'm leaning against the spin
Give me a vision please
And I don't mean heavenly

I'm an ordinary angel
Winning tiny victories
And though the ordinary angels fly
Their wings weigh heavily
I try to be a daily genius
There's no idea beyond my reach
With all the angels and the geniuses
My company I'm gonna keep

I want a life that's bigger than me
'Cause I'm crushing myself to death
Give me a vision please
And I don't mean heavenly

I am an ordinary angel

I am an ordinary angel child
Walking with the daily geniuses
I am an ordinary angel

Flying as high as I can...

they'll come to you (they'll come to you)
they'll come to you

diamonds deep

sparkle though they can't be seen
it can hardly be conceived

open yourself
you will become the light you see
then yourself
you will become the light you see

FAQs

Isto:

Assim sim, fiquei muito mais descansado.

“One-Man Band” ?!? (2ª parte)

Clicar na imagem, para a ampliar

Interessante entrevista e possibilidade de escutar excertos do novo álbum de Pat Metheny, “Orchestrion”.

A ouvir.

“One-Man Band” ?!?

“In the late 1800's and early 1900's, as player pianos emerged (pianos played mechanically by moving rolls of paper through a mechanism that physically moved the keys), the next logical step was to apply that same principle to a range of orchestral instruments, often including percussion and mallet instruments. These large instrument arrays were called Orchestrions.”

“‘Orchestrionics’ is the term that I am using to describe a new performance method to present music alone onstage using acoustic and acoustoelectric musical instruments that are mechanically controlled using the power of modern technology”.

“I have found myself again craving for a context that is somehow intrinsically connected to this moment in time - to find something that could only be happening now, in 2010.”

“This experience so far has provided me with a self-imposed challenge that has proven to be enormously difficult and time-consuming, but the early results have been absolutely exhilarating.”

“I am excited to share this project with all of you. I am hopeful and confident that if nothing else, this will be something truly unique. It feels like progress to me and has gotten some notes out of me that I didn't know were there. That is always a good thing.”

Pat Metheny - July 2009

“Postscript –

I have realized by now that as much as I can describe this project, even the people closest to me have had no idea what I was talking about until they have actually heard the music and had an encounter with it all in action. So, even having written all of the above, I know for sure that you still have to experience it yourself to really know what it is.”

(texto completo aqui)

a) mais um álbum imprescindível da discografia de PM;
b) uma “musical oddity” sem interesse;
c) uma brutal fonte de polémica;
d) um marco na história da música;
e) várias combinações das alíneas anteriores.

Uma coisa será certamente – de audição obrigatória.
